    You can make the spring from a coathanger wire.  Just wrap the wire tightly around some round object to for a coiled shape and stick it in the hose.  (Closet rod works well)  It does not have to go 100% length of the hose.  An inch or so short at both ends will be ok.

    Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.
