Front end parts

Im getting ready to pick up steering & suspension parts for the bone stock 65 FB, 289 manual steering,

1)  Who makes a good spring perch?  I don't need the rollers.

2) Does anyone know the difference of Moog LCA part numbers K8035 and CK8035?

Re: Front end parts

The difference between the moog part numbers may be the warranty. I know at carquest stores locally the K8035 would be the lifetime warranty and they would have an RK8035 which would be cheaper up front with a lesser warranty. It's possible that whatever parts store I'm guessing it may be NAPA in this case uses CK8035 for their cheaper line. Essentially its the same part just with not as good a warranty.

Re: Front end parts

Thanks for the suggestions.  How about a little tie rod help?

65 FB, 289, manual steering.  I believe both inner tie rods are the same and both outer tie rods are the same on manual steering cars.  I believe Moog ES713 will be the correct inner tie rod for both sides, but I am having trouble identifying the correct outer tie rod.  Moog lists left outer tie rod as ES336L and the right outer tie rod as ES336R for the power steering cars.  I think I need 2 of one of those, but I don't know if I want 2 lefts, or 2 rights. Comments?

Sorry, looks like the whole link is too long to post so if you copy n paste you can reach the tie rods at Moogs part finder.

Re: Front end parts

From Rock Auto you use the right outer for power steering is the same as both left and right for manual steering.  If you have'nt yet, check rock auto.  Not only do they have good prices, they have detailed descriptions for most parts and when you press the info tab, it often provides more specific information down to actual dimensions in some cases.   =12pxMOOG Part # ES336R=12px   =12px =12px{#C5ZZ3A130B, C5ZZ3A130D} Problem Solver
Front Right Outer; Power steering; Incl. powdered-metal gusher bearing to allow grease to penetrate bearing surfaces
Front Outer; Manual steering; Incl. powdered-metal gusher bearing to allow grease to penetrate bearing surfaces

Thanks, GPatrick.  I have looked at Rockauto, and funny thing, when I look at ES336R the last line of your post that mentions "front outer Manual Steering" is NOT seen from my browser.

Re: Front end parts

I use Chrome most of the time and it might be your zoom settings - try a different browser like firefox if you are currently using IE.  Some are not as compatible as they would lead us to beleive.

Re: Front end parts

Advance auto carries Moog, so oftentimes, you can find really good coupons online, and either have shipped to home for free or pickup in store, with lifetime warranty.

Re: Front end parts

Hey Tim, if you have not bought them yet, I believe I have a set I got in a steering kit from OpenTracker Racing.  I used a bumpsteer kit and don't need them.  Let me know and I'll send them out to you.  Kip

Re: Front end parts

Difference in ball joints is the bolt pattern. Some have 3 and some have 4 mounting holes. Also for the price I saw it more affective to do all new lower and upper arms. Due to not having to drill out the Rivits if they haven't ever been replaced. Also you'll get new bushings in them. I second rock auto I have yet to have a problem. Needed a gas tank for my truck due to muffler shop lifting it on it. Rock auto had better prices same brand it shipped for less then any local place. I ended up spending more on fuel line then the tank itself
