I installed shelby hood springs on my 67 hinges and they are very tight. In fact the hood actually bows in the middle between the back edge near windshield and the edge of headlight bucket. Does anyone know why? Or is there different tension springs? The ones I have are a lot smaller diameter than originals. They are suposedly for shelby fiberglass hoods.

Suggest verifying with the supplier that these are the correct springs.

My 65's fibrglass hood(not metal framed) do the same. It's because of air pressure, while driving down the highway. Ya ought to see that sucker bow at 70-75. It rises up an easy two inches. Whenever I get out of the car I sureptitiously walk by the hood and press dowon the bowed up area. Take a look at yours while driving down the highway.

All original Shelby hoods were bowed , look at pictures of concourse Shelby cars.

Im not liking the bowed look. It also makes me feel like the hood is going crack in 2. I think Im going the prop rod route.

Check with ls (l+s) in Irwin pa. They make most of the springs for mustang and Shelby shops and many other vehicles, as well. Including regular steel, and stainless steel lightweight springs for fiberglass hoods
