AC compressor on 5.0

Hi,
I'm in the middle of a 5.0 install into my '66.  I'm trying to figure out what I should for air conditioning
It had factory air, however one of the hoses to the original york compressor was broken after the most recent R12 charge 10 yrs ago.  Knowing that I was going to engine swap, I never fixed it.

Now that I'm swapping the engine, can I pull the AC compressor from a 89 - 93 mustang and connect to my original unit, do I need to swap components in the original unit, or should I be looking to figure out how to include my york in this swap?

Thanks,
Randy

Re: AC compressor on 5.0

I just put a sanden compressor on my original A/C unit. I went to www.Coldhose.com and bought a new expansion valve for the evaporator and two flare to o-ring adapters along with the oring fittings, bulk hose drier and large condensor. All of the pieces set me back close to $150. It works great.
Just take your time and pick out the fittings you would need and you will be fine.

I got the hoses crimped at a hydraulic fitting retailer in an industrial part of town for about $20 for all three hoses.

Re: AC compressor on 5.0

Is the evaporator and other components in good shape? Not contaminated from all the years being open? Now would be the time to replace EVERYthing that is not in good shape.

wow.  I couldnt find nobody that would touch it for under 100 around here.   Thats how I wound up with a crimping set    I thought what they all wanted was way too much.   Glad you found someone that would do it for something reasonable.  Id like to think this is the norm, and my experience was the exception.
