Replacing lower control arm bushing

Hey Guys/Gals, not sure but I think I'm looking at replacing at least the drivers side lower control arm bushing. Have set and reset the to-in on my 66, and the last time I noticed there seemed to be alot of slop from the drivers side lower. How should I check this short of disasembling it all right now. Have springs and shocks and drive train in, so I thought I was past suspension rebuilds...one of only thinks on car I didn't mess with!

Re: Replacing lower control arm bushing

Normal to just replace the both of'em when you do it
. I'm sure you can JUST do the bushings butt-eye would just get new arms.

Re: Replacing lower control arm bushing

With new LCAs come new lower ball joints.  At rock auto new LCAs for a 66 mustang are $37.79.  I think that's a no brainer, then again it's not my money.

Re: Replacing lower control arm bushing

I'm going to go against the grain here. but I put "new" lower control arms on my 66 when I had it, from mustangs unlimited, and yes while it did come with new ball joint and bushing, the metal wasnt like the originals that I took off the car.  I wound up getting a set of oringal lower arms from a fellow forum member in NJ, and had the old bushing removed, and drilled out the rivets that held the old ball joint, and bought new bushings and new ball joints from moog and put them back on the original lower control arm. I had them cleaned first of course.  The new ball joints got bolted on so i didnt have to rivet it on. I may be wrong, but to me, the original lower control arms seemed heavier and sturdier.
