Problems with our 01 Vert

2001 mustang GT 4.6 auto.  66000 miles.  My wife called and said her car wouldnt start.  Check engine light was on and battery light was on.  it would start but then die.  After I got home I tried to start and same thing.  If I would pump the accelerator it would start and run.  let it idle and it would die.  After several times doing this it will run and Idle???
Any Ideas???  May have to take to autozone to see if it throws a code

Re: Problems with our 01 Vert

It sounds like low fuel pressure/volume.  Check out the fuel filter and the fuel pump.

Two words "code reader" it will point in the right direction.

I'll ship my code reader and get it back at the bash.  Lemme know.

Re: Problems with our 01 Vert

Thanks Bob, I have one available here.  I changed the fuel filter and it seems to be running ok. time will tell.  I will be taking it to a buddy to have fuel pressure checked Monday just to be sure.
