Re: cobra jet mufflers

actually i don't know and by that i meen that what i am wnating to put them under is my 64 falcon, i want to get it quiter. it currently has flow masters and it is too loud. i was hoping that the early mufflers would fit under th car, i was thinking that the first generation mustang and the falcon had about the same amount of room to mount them in.

Re: cobra jet mufflers

Hello Val, robby13 here. I think the 64 Falcon is a lot smaller underneath than a 69,70. Is it a 6 or an 8? You would probably be better off trying to use one of the systems from a 65, 66. The NPD catalogue has a bunch of systems, single and dual exhaust, and I think they even mention the falcon, they also have pictures of the different configurations. Worth a look. Good luck.

what size is your engine?

how much hp?

listen to the dynbomax exhaust video. the stainless and the thrush turbos are both far quieter than flowmasters. the walker mifflers are quiet like stock.

scott fuller makes 428 mufflers but they are probably $1000.00.

Re: cobra jet mufflers

I went through four sets of mufflers on my 427 stroker until I found some that were quiet enough.  I have a system made from 2-1/2" stainless tubing and bought a pair of Walker mufflers from Summit racing.  They are original application for a 79 ElDorado with 500 CI and are larger than you would ever think would fit under a Mustang.  I managed to fit them under the car with nearly 1/8" to spare.  They are decent sounding outside the car but are very quiet inside the car.  Somewhere I have the part number...  Somebody else on FYI had bought a set but I have not heard reports of how they liked them.
