17" x 9" wide wheels

Steve,

I like the saleen sc style wheels and the narrowest I've seen in a 5 lug is 9" wide. I have a '67 stang and alot of stuff I've read show to use 17" x 8" and not wider on these. I was just wondering how much trouble would it be to put 17 x 9s on it. I'm looking to upgrade my wheels to use your cobra brake conversion.

Re: 17" x 9" wide wheels

Easy enough of a fit for the back with the right backspacing ;)

Tougher sell to get them in the front.  I have seen it done once at a car show....but it is tight enough that I would want to measure.
The backspacing for the front falls in around 5.25 to 5.5

If they are later model wheels the offset/backspacing is always wrong but people have been using bolt on adaptors to make up the backspacing requirement needs.

MS has also had some good success with narrowing wheels....which could be an option to make the fronts easier.

Re: 17" x 9" wide wheels

I thought the back wouldnt be a problem. They make those wheels 8" wide in a 4 lug but not in 5 lug or I wasnt able to find them. The backspacing on them is like 6", so I was expecting to have to use spacers.
