16 inch wheel brake options

Hey everyone I am looking for any performance brake recommendations that will clear a 16x8 wheel...I have some 04 cobra brakes lying around that I purchased a while back for another project but from what I hear they won't clear my wheel...I know of the street or track setup but unfortunately it's a little out of my budget. Currently running an ssbc Kelsey Hayes setup but I'd like a little more bite. any of you have any ideas? Thanks

Rudy

Re: 16 inch wheel brake options

2005-2010 Mustang v6 brakes, at 11.25" diameter, work great and fit my GT2008-FT brackets.  They use same caliper as the GT brakes, but with a different caliper cradle to position the calipers closer to the axle centerline where they fit the smaller rotors.

Re: 16 inch wheel brake options

to run the 05-10 v6 front brakes you will have to modify Mustang steve braket a bit to make room for the caliper to slide on the bracket unless MS made this mod already i did this to my 65 mustang to keep my 16" wheel i had just got. as you can see i had to cut the U shaped area out of the MS Bracket to make sure that the caliper will slide. you also may have to grind a bit of the caliper bracket where it meets those big gold bolts as it may not let the caliper bracket bolt holes line up.

Re: 16 inch wheel brake options

Here is another pic of the mod that will have to be done on the bracket to make it work with the v6 brakes. i had a machine shop do it due to the thickness of the bracket

Re: 16 inch wheel brake options

Now do the above mod for 12" rotors inside the 16's(TTII's), I'll buy it.

Re: 16 inch wheel brake options

If you want a kit rather than do-it-yourself ---I have the 12.19" Wilwood brakes on my 66 w/16" wheels.  It fits fine with about 1/16" clearence.  Wheels are 1988 Lincoln MkVII's.
