replacment distributor

i have a 1965 mustang  coujpe with a 200 cui inline 6 with a c4 tranny, it has the stock dist. with out tany mech advance.  i wanted to  use a hei but  have the small srive on the distribuator so the hei won't fit  is there any  dist. with a mech acvance that eill interchange  i have a pertronix  unit to install and want to up grade to a webber 2 barel carb  and get away from the stock one barrel carb.  is there any ford dist. that will inter chandg  where i can get away from the load a matic  i think is what they calll it. anny help will be appreciated thanks jim

ahhh. yes, the ol' load o matic . . one option is to use a 1968 or later distributor and plug the vacuum advance if you have a load o matic carb . . then replace only the heavy spring in the distributor with a mr gasket one.

Yep, a mediocre carburetor teid to a very poor distributor.  A failed concept of a sensor on the carburetor sending the signal to the distributor - didnt work out too well.  Vacuum is a far more reliable and accurate signal.

There is a lot to know, and a few choices to make.  A Duraspark or DUI distributor will work, as stated, with some additional work.  Most folks change out the carb and the distributor together as a compatible Pair.
The Duraspark will work fine with a 2 barrel, and will source the vacuum from it.
