Very busy winter. I put on a new timing cover and seal on my mustang in the fall / early winter. Had a few leaks and I think I have that fixed. Dented my hood in the late summer trying to get my New Street Demon Carburetor Adjusted. Have the repo hood fited and painted along with the Boss 429 hood Scoop. Just have to find the time to install the painted hood. My two older kids are in HS so my son is in Hockey and Daugher in Basketball. My Youngest Daughter played Club Basketball. So it was non stop running for games and practice. Bought my son a 2001 Grand Am for his first car. Regretting my choice on that one. Looked a lot nicer at the Dealership. Having a few issues with it but I think we have them ironed out. Found some time to cut a lot of Firewood. So Ill be set for next winter. Prom this weekdend and Huge Car Show Swap Meet at Jefferson WI this weekend. Need to do the timing on my Mustang and work on Vibration at Hwy Coasting Speed. Also need to figure out 2nd Gear Vibration in 2nd Gear in my new T5Z. A lot to still work on. Hope you guys have a Great Summer!

Very Nice Ron! Keep us posted on how you like the rear suspension!
I LOVE IT... I can go over pretty harsh bumps with out rattling my teeth... It did pretty well at the Good Guys AutoX as well, now I need to get more seat time... Good kit and I like the way it Rides and Looks.

I've been cheating on my Mustang and working on the Lightning. I told my self "this will go together much faster, then I can spend all my time on the Mustang" Why doesn't anything ever work that way?

Installed mustang steve cobra brake adaptor kit on the front with the rotors and calipers over the winter. Also added new mc and booster(also from Steve). I bought some new 17 inch wheels for it, but I havent got them on yet as I'm upgrading the front suspension. I've purchased progreesive rate springs, new upper and lower control arms, sway bar and a roller spring perch. I'm still in the process of removing the old components out.

Found out I've got a grand daughter on the way, just got back from Topsail Isl.. NC. Opened up my camp on moon lake, sent my wife's hood and spoiler off to paint for her 68 camaro convertible.....no mustang work yet! All that and it's still in the 40's around here! I need to find a job down south somewhere and relocate, anyone looking for a good dairy supervisor?

Slow but steady progress on my '67. Been working on a number of details here and there, remote trunk lock with cable backup, engine bay fuel system lines. Oil lines to the turbo, radiator hoses, etc. Went to the local wrecking a couple of days ago to see what I could find and get inspiration for some kind of hood scoop or at least something that might provide some air in under the hood in the front and back out again in the back, kind of like a '68 Shelby. Have a couple of ideas now and as I have two original hoods I can use one to experiment with.

I finished up my 67
Still working a through final few issues (like swapping in a different MC ;) ) and a small vibration issue I think may be the TC in the trans at this point.....but it is a running, driving, cruising mustang again ;)
FInally got the windows adjusted enough for me to be happy with them and put the door panels in last weekend!

Luv the implications of that intercooler Hakan.
As fer me, fuel system re-done (Yes I re-used that rusty tank, twer'nt rusty when I finished)
New seats are still in the planning stage, so that leaves MM up on jack stands with the 8" rear being dis-bolted and 8.8 on deck.
Mother & Sister-in-laws coming to visit tomorrow. T'aint fair BB gets visits from j-kb, an I get in-laws!

Well I woke up the 65 from winter storage last Sunday. Fired right up and ran great on the ride home.
Floor stains were from prior occupant.....
Now that the bath remodel is complete, plans for 65 include getting the horn on the deluxe wheel working, putting on a dual bowl mc and replacing soft brake lines, and little stuff like that. Plans to make it Bash worthy require charging the a/c, new radio, cruise control, seat track extenders, and stabbing the T5 in it.
How do you keep that container dry in the winter? I have two 40 footers and they are like a rain forest inside during the winter. Several years ago I installed three rotating convection/wind driven turbine vents in the roof of each box. That reduced the condensation but did not eliminate it. For my part I am thinking I do not not have enough air flow into the containers.

The 68 is up on jack stands awaiting the install of the EPAS and will remain there til the kitchen reno is completed.
Might get back to it in a couple of months. No incentive to complete it since I quit the MCA circus at the end of last year. The 68 has reached the end of any further awards at the MCA shows, it has garnered all of the available prizes for the class it was in.

Boom, In northern Illinois, humidity is not an issue in the winter. Lotsa folks have central humidifiers to add humidity to their homes in the winter. I stored it in late Nov. It gets cold and stays cold. I checked in on it every couple of weeks. Once after a lot of snow, the wood floor was a little damp near the doors. It has a silver spray on reflective rubberized roof to reduce interior heat, and also has a turbine vent. I suspended a plastic tarp above it in case it had leaks. It was also mouse free. I had plenty of poisin that was untouched.

I spent the winter working on the 70 FB that I am restoring for my wife, started by installing new inner and outer wheel houses, I notched the frame and added 2 1/2 inches between the wheel houses so it is mini tubbed it to fit 335 X 18 rear tires, then replaced both quarter panels, tail light panel and trunk drop offs. Next I replaced the firewall and complete floor, fabricated sub frame connectors, then moved on to the front where I replaced the shock towers (with the Dynacorn hydro form notched towers so I can fit a Coyote) then replaced the rear fender aprons, then replaced the front crossmember, have not replaced the front fender aprons or radiator support yet as I want to make them removable for engine fitting. Mocked up the Gateway Classic Mustang three link rear suspension, all this after I did a coupe to fastback conversion which I did four years ago and then put it in storage until this winter. It is now back in storage and my car is home for the summer.

Tim couple questions.
is that a rental yard with a bunch of those containers that people rent????
Why is your car in there closer to the wall on the drivers side? seems like you would hug the passenger side so you can get in and out> Or is it just because you can watch the drivers side more closely from drivers seat?? just curious

Nearly three weeks ago, I finished up with the changes (this go 'round) that I was making to my '69 F100 short bed Ranger over the past 5 months. It took two weeks to get it up to the alignment shop --Melody has been working long hours lately and not getting home in time for me to drop the truck off at the alignment shop. I finally got it aligned last week.
The '77 F100 front discs, '75 F350 dual-diaphragm brake booster and the '95 Explorer 1-1/16" bore MC work perfectly together. --huge improvement!
The '82 F150 Ford C-2 power steering pump and '78 F150 Saginaw power steering box are really nice. I don't have to have a big, dorky 17" steering wheel to turn the front wheels anymore.
The '78 F250 1-1/8" front sway bar, '79 Bronco 1-1/8" rear sway bar and the new Moog CC808 progressive rate front coils really flattened the truck out when going around curves. It doesn't feel like the door handles are going to scrape the pavement when going around curves now.
The modified cargo/3rd brake light is pretty cool. However, evidently when I was making all the modifications, wiring and testing of the 3rd brake light out, I apparently never pulled the light switch out. If I had, I would have noticed the tail light circuit is back feeding the added 3rd brake light circuit and illuminating it (Doh). This should be fairly easy to remedy though.
There's still LOTS to do/fix on the old truck but, it's nice to be past this phase of changes and upgrades and just be able to drive it again.
Just back from the alignment shop here. It was pouring down rain on the way home but, I got to try out the ('78 F150) intermittent wipers.

Getting my house ready to sell. Buying a little bit bigger house. Step one at the new house: build a shop. Gonna miss my old shop more than I'll miss my old house.

Nice truck Ultra. One of those is on the bucket list as well.
Speaking of houses, I've been getting mine ready to sell lately too. I'll miss the 4000 sq. ft. shop with the 14x28 spray booth the most. ( I won't miss trying to heat it in the winter though.)

I was wondering how Tim gets in to drive the car out of the container? Looks really tight.

Thanks, Darren.
My '68 Mustang was my first car but, my dad's '68 F100 short bed Ranger (converted to '70 model Ranger interior/exterior trim) was the first vehicle I learned to drive.
In late 2010, I decided to return to my 'roots' and began looking for a short bed F100. After 5 months of searching, I found and bought this 1969 F100 Ranger on April 24, 2011.
(It was the wife's idea to have pictures made with my old truck)
My dad's old '68 F100 Ranger. This is the first vehicle I learned to drive ....wish I knew where it was today.

Terry, yup, storage yard with 100's of 20 & 40 ft containers. I hugged the D/S because of the visibility.
Steve, I am blessed with a couple of favorable genes that allow me to get into small spaces. I also have some bad genes that allow the crud to accumulate in the CV system, as opposed to the beltline.... Better living through chemistry lol

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
