p/s fluid

You folks who converted your Mustangs to the Borgeson system - What power steering fluid does Borgeson recommend.
Best,
Al

Re: p/s fluid

That is a darn interesting question!!   I started researching this for you, since I have this system myself.  I found a thread where someone claims the OEM apparently contradicts themselves in a factory service manual.    Most opinions seem to call for Dextron III.

And according to Amsoil fluid chart for Izuzu Trooper, it takes ATF.

This could get complicated if the particular pump requires something different....

All this said, I did enough research, I think I will run dextron III in mine.

If multiple things can go wrong, the one that will go wrong will be the one that causes the most damage.

Re: p/s fluid

I had ATF in the old system with a 5.0 pump, so I called Borg to see what they recommend...ATF.

Using type f atf in our Borgeson with hydroboost. Works great.

Re: p/s fluid

I used Dextron III, in last years installation, Noticed the front seal on pump is leaking, Just one year old go figure. Something else to do now.
