I have a retro fit T5z and a 1988 5.0 HO in my 66 mustang coupe. I currently have the original bell housing with the adapter plate. Will a new bell housing for a T5 that is for 83-94 fit or do I have to use the original bellhousing for cleareance with the adapter plate? I know the adapter plate is required but I don't know if I can just get a new bellhousing and ditch the old bellhousing. Reason being is that I want to go to a hydraulic clutch setup and some say they only work with the new bellhousing because of the bolt pattern. I'm using the modern motor can't I use the modern bellhousing?

You can either use a 4-speed bellhousing with an adapter plate or a T-5 bellhousing without an adapter plate.

Stick with 93 or earlier. The 94-95 has a relocated window where the lever goes through.

The 94 and 95 Mustang T5 has a longer input shaft which puts the shifter a little farther back. They are not usable with the earlier bell housing.
