Magnaflow installation tips

Hey guys....me again!  I have a new Magnaflow 2.5 inch  stainless steel exhaust complete with the manifold pipes for my 1965 Mustang with a 289 v8.  I was just wanting to know if any of you would have any installation tips and tricks that I need to be aware of.  Thanks!

Re: Magnaflow installation tips

I didn't get the manifold pipes so I took the kit to a muffler shop to make the short pipes and do the install.  Watching them, they used several stands to get everything up high and tight all at one time before tightening all the clamps.

Re: Magnaflow installation tips

I just upgraded my exhaust to 2.5" w/Magnafllow SS mufflers. Setup is very similar to JamesW.  Used the stock Mustang dual exhaust hangers, although the muffler hangers are now clamped to the exhaust pipe instead of the brackets that are found on the stock mufflers.  My X-Pipe is a little further back to provide space for transmission removal.  I used the "AccuSeal" single bolt SS band clamps (via Amazon) on the rear hangers due to the limited space between the gas tank and leaf spring on the drivers side.
So far, I'm very happy with this setup.

Re: Magnaflow installation tips

Be smart and just tack the pipes and muff together, using several. Use some of that muffler repair stuff to seal around the tacked joints. Works great! It won't leak because its a free-flowing muffler.
In the future.....you can grind of a few tacks wayyyy easier than a solid weld...when you want to go louder or quieter.
