Seems like every time Bullet Bob gets to work on putting his beautimus coupe back together again, his back tells him not to. As a small assist to help him feel motivated to work on the car, I am changing my tagline on all my posts to GITTERDONE BULLET BOB !!! until his car is finished. The BASH is Sept 12 and I know he wants the car to be there, but HIM being there is more important, so don't overdo it Bob.
I think if everyone here made a tagline on every post to support Bullet Bob, that would help him get to feeling better.
Feel free to copy mine or come up with one of your own. And, if you don't post alot, or regularly, make a post just so it shows. You can easily change your tagline or add a new one by clicking the MY PROFILE box at the top and then go to the AVATAR AND SIGNATURE box.
Hope this is OK with you Bullet, because we are doing it whether it is or not!

BulletBob,
I would tell you to Get it Done, but Safety first. I was working on building a handicapped ramp on my house last saturday, and in my haste to "get it done", I fell between the joists, and sprained my ankle. Ambulance ride, been out of work all week, I have crutches and a cast, ankle swollen, leg is black and blue from knee down to my toes. and I won't be back to work for another 2 months with this extreme type 3 sprain. Pain when i stand up, pain killers, etc. And Aflac won't pay for a sprain, only a dislocation.
So BB, take your time. As of right now only your car will possibly miss the bash, but one stupid move and you could miss the bash too.

I am one of several members of the forum hampered by back problems (MustangSteve, Don), so I fully understand trying to work around them. My advice is:

Take your time and and let the back get better. The Bash is about people not cars.

There was a point in my restoration time, I had to be told. Just don't give up. And so I didn't give up. I remembered that a few times to help keep me going. So I say to B. Bob. Don't get hurt but don't give up. My grandpa used to say. You can give out, but don't give up. 😀

Well, of all the folks I've know and associated with, this is the best bunch I can think of for amoral support. Just jokin', of course. You are a great bunch and I thank you from the bottom of my sump.
Actually, it isn't my back that's holding up the forward progress...it's my back, my right hip, my ankle, and my gereral sloth which seems to be getting worser as I get more geezerly. Ever since I started putting this thing back together not quite a year ago, I've had the hardest time working more than four or five hours on it...even when I don't have something else that needs doing. Add to that the fact that I have made so many mods to this thing...and every mod requires that six or eight other things be modified for compatibility...well, you get the idea.
So I took the attitude some time ago that as long as I could make some forward progress every day...even some little thing...it would get done in time. I just figured that it all has to be done so I quit worrying if I did a little thing or a major thing. I just try to do something.
And it's actually coming along pretty well. I'm down to AC hoses, then finish the grill and front treatment. Bumpers, interior (pretty much a bolt in since nothing is being changed), and glass. There's a couple of other minor finish items and get new muff-back exh. pipes through the valance.
Then about a month ago I took a misstep and sprained my ankle. Bad enough that I went for an xray. No brake so that's good but it really slowed me down. Then a couple of weeks ago I did I-know-not-what and hosed my easily hosed back. Again, no Mustang work and multiple trips to the bone crusher.
Add to all this the necessary spring clean-up, hacking, trimming, mowing and fixing that's annually required around here and things are moving slowly on the car...but they are moving. Today I managed, after only two false starts, to get the new passenger door glass bedded in the channels and ready to install. And now that I know how to do it, I'm hoping the other three pieces will be done tomorrow. With luck, the doors and quarter windows will be assembled and working by Sunday eve. But maybe not and I'll be okay with that too. Long as I keep making progress.
Got a guy coming in a week or so to do the headliner. I decided that my back really dosen't need the contortionist routine required to install it myself. In the meantime I will take care of many other less physically demanding chores.
So...thanks for all the good words and moral support and offers of help. I will make it and it will be at the Bash...even, as I just told Ms...if it's on a trailer. It will be there. It runs, trans seems to work, brakes work, every system except AC has been tested Okay, all new electrics work. There is that weird engine noise that I have mentioned but I really don't think it's serious and I think I'll have time to de-bug it.
So thanks again guys. This truly is the best place on the web and I'm honored to be allowed to participate.

BB,
Even though you're hurtin, it seems like you are on pace to have everything done by the time the Bash rolls around. Just don't over do it.......and there'll be plenty of celebratory GJ at the Bash to recognize your accomplishment.....

Bob - I also ahere to the philosophy that "everything you do, is one less thing to do before you're done". Rome wasn't built in a day. Good things take time.
Now, that being said - please consider this to be my official inspirational pep talk - now go out and win one for the FYIFORD team!!!
Please complete the self assigned task in a safe and timely manner. Thank you.

I say go for it. Except don't make it worse. Take it easy and do what you can. Maybe you can have some of the work done by a mechanic. (Now I'm waiting of all the screams from the do-it-yourselfers(-
What is your goal with respect to your health? Do you want to take a chance of being even worse off? There will be another bash to go to.
I had a lammonectomy a couple of years ago and I am not all the way healed yet. Getting under the car is a painful effort. I need new rear shocks, but I can't get into the trunk. I'm getting to the place where I am having more work done by mechanics.
Take care of yourself first.

I was so inspired by all of your encouragment that I decided to go back out to the shop and get a start on tomorrow's projects. I bedded the left door glass in the bottom channel....1/8" too far forward. Thanks for all the help guys. Now I'm an hour or more behind tomorrow's project. LOL.
As for ODing, I won't. It just ain't in me. I was going to make Knotts on April 19...didn't. I was planning to make our local show on June 6...I won't. I am planning to make the Bash (in the car) and I think that's a reasonable goal even at my pace.
So thanks again for the concern but I promise I ain't hurtin' myself. Movin' slow and no lifting.

Well actually, Mike...I think Mr Tim's geezertude is more advanced than mine. Not by much but a little, I think.

BB, We are looking forward to seeing you and Jean at the Bash no matter what you are driving. Take it easy and don't worry about what is not finished.

BB,
I have the back issues also. I seem to work on the car and pay for it later. Take it easy there is no rush. The car will always be there. Mine waited 6 years for me to return to working on it. The back still hurts but I get so much satisfaction from tinkering on it I guess I do not care. You take care, we are all pullin for ya.
