Re: I am done with Craftsman tools

My first tool set was Craftsman 51 years ago. I was 14 years old and got them for Christmas. I still have a couple and the box, but someone relieved me of them out of the back of my truck coming home from a race while I was having lunch. Most of my tools have been gifts and most are Craftsman since they are easy to find and work just fine. Now days there are a lot more easy choices of ok quality stuff, but for a long time Craftsman was the best choice around here for a decent tool for a part timer. There power stuff has gone to crap over the years so now I mostly buy best price for a good name brand. Although, my old Craftsman plug in drill is still my work horse. Between my shop here at home and the trailer there are three triple decker roll arounds full with upgraded casters to keep them standing up. Fully, half of the weight in them is Craftsman with the average age of them at 20+ years.

Re: I am done with Craftsman tools

That's funny!  I have a set of Fleet Farm sockets I bought a thousand years ago because they were inexpensive.  I still have them and even the ratchet still works correctly.  I've never broken a socket, even though I used some of them in an air impact driver (that was before I knew that there are special sockets for that purpose).

Maybe I'm lucky but I think that the "old" stuff was just made better and out of better materials than just about everything today.

Eh, but whaddayagonnado?
