At least from the bottom side. Back on it a bit after a few weeks away for an eye injection and a staycation. Got a little more done. Posting to let forum know I'm still "plugging" away at it. This is the way the floorpan came off. I have seen some that end at the rocker, and some that have a flange bent downward. If you look into the upper left corner, you will see that the replacement panel was too short, and I actually had to use some of the flange to cover the area. All in all I think it looks OK. It will all start to come together when its all done and gets the massive cleanup and painting.

I'll just wait and look at it at the bash!

Well the whole "eye injection" thing really sounds like it sucked but your work on the mustang doesn't!

Did the factory use blue tape??
Kidding...looks great.

I was waiting for someone to ask about the tape. I put the tape on there to keep grinding dust from getting in there as much as I could. I am going to put seam sealer on that area. The top side is plug welded to the frame rail as well, of course. May not be a major victory, but I look at it as baby steps.

Yeah, it looks good. Why was the floor pan too short? Should I watch out for this?

To my knowledge, no one makes an actual replacement floorpans for convertibles. (well except maybe the full dynacorn pan). You have to take a coupe pan and turn the flange around or remove it. On this car, the floorpan was flat with no flange whatsoever. I have looked at a lot of pics of cars for sale on ebay. I have seen floorpans with the flanges turned down. (maybe replacement?) and I have seen convertibles with no flanges whatsoever, which means they were spot welded to the convertible only inner rocker.

Ok, thanks Greg.

I fixed my little snafu in the upper left corner where I forgot to clean the area before welding. I lifted it up with a wood chisel enough to get a dremel in there and clean it up. I got that corner welded up now and cleaned and I put a coat of zinc on the work.
I figgured someone would ask about that tape, but my guess was in Sal.

Nice work. At least on my Friday built car anyway, I have to be careful to NOT get it too factory looking as I would rather have it looking good.
