I would have never been in this hobby without him. He taught me a lot even though his father didn't stick around to teach him. Many of times I was told by other guys, they wish they had a father that taught them how to do things like I had. Just keep in mind it doesn't have to be cars, it can be anything. If you can read his hat you will see dad was a WWII veteran and a member of the 11th airborne, he was very proud of that. More importantly he was a great father and wonderful grandfather. I never had the fancy shoes or cloths growing up but he always gave me his time. I say this as a reminder to you all as to what is important. I always remember the words to "cats in the cradle". Do you want your children to grow up like you? I hope I become 1/2 the man he was. I love you dad.
Sorry I'm not great with words but thanks for listing.

Sorry for your loss, Walt. Another one of the great generation has passed.
You are lucky to have had a dad like that that lived to his age. Mine passed away when I was 16.

Walt, you said it so well, I am happy you had that kind of relationship with your dad, I did too and still thank him regularly for all he taught me. I am now trying to be that for my Grandkids. My dad passed in 1980 and I still use the tools he used for a lot of stuff.

Sorry for your loss, Walt. I know how hard times like these are. I lost my mom in 94 at age 55, and I lost my dad in 96 at age 60. I was still too young to really process it. Then I went through it all again a couple of years ago with both of my inlaws. You really learn to appreciate and cherish the good times and the memories. Hang in there, pal.

So sorry for your loss Walt. Cherish the memories of your time together. I credit my Dad with my passion for old cars Ford trucks, he passed in 82 from Leukemia.

So sorry Walt. Most of the folks from that generation were special. My Dad and Mom were War II vets and like your Dad, proud to have served. I feel your loss as I have experienced it. It gets easier but I don't think it ever really gets better. All my best to you and your family. See ya soon, my friend.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. I'm glad that you had that special kind of relationship with him that meant so much to you. I lost my mom in 2007 but thankfully my dad is still with us and going strong. He too, is a WWII and Korean War veteran and is very proud of his service and of the service of others of the Greatest Generation. My prayers to you and your family at his passing.

I'm very sorry for your loss. No words help in these situations but I will be praying for you and your family. I lost my dad last year to a very short but hard fought battle with esophageal cancer. I was 29, and he never got to experience being a grandfather, or PawPaw as we call them here in NC.
My 68 is being built as a tribute to him, his weekend car was a 2006 Screaming Yellow Mustang GT. I bought him the car, and he thanked me every day for the 2 years he had it before he passed.
MS is right, many of us lose our dad at a young age, and a lot of folks never have a dad at all. Either way, it never seems to be enough time. I was blessed to have 29 years with mine, and I'm sure yours was a blessing to you and your family.
