I was looking at torque thrust M's,17x7, but have come across several options, some which have different backspacing. Ones that I have found are: hrh classics alloy, ridler 675, rev wheels classic 100, show wheels streeter, vision wheels, us mags u106, b&g rodworks old school, and coys wheels. Do any of these clear 67/68 cougars and mustangs with Shelby drop and cobra brakes? My 67 has pro Motorsports negative wedge kit, eibach progressive rate springs, etc,so it sits pretty low. Couple that with cobra brakes and stock wheelip chrome, I have quite the challenge finding something that looks and performs well. Please let me know if you had any experiences with ones that did or did not work. Thanks all.

The only 17's I know of that have issues are the American Racing TTII wheels. The M wheels will clear with room to spare. The COBRA caliper face sits only slightly inboard of the wheel munting surface, so use that as a guide. Any wheel that has spokes protruding inboard of that plane will likely be problematic. Take a 12" ruler with you when you look at wheels, anbd lay it across the mounting surface. If a spoke inerferes, look for something else.

Thanks, Steve. I was wondering where the interference was going to occur.

I will check as a couple of the wheels I mentioned in the first post, have 17x7.5" with 4.25 backspacing, which may be more ideal for my setup. Will keep everyone informed.

Do the newer GT Mustang 17: wheels only come in 8" width or is their certain years which where 7" wide?

There were some 17x7 but they have way deep backspacing, so you still need a spacer.

I am OK with using adapters. I am looking for some better track tires then my Proxy4's and the selection is very limited in 16's. So what I want to find (if they exist) are 17"x 7" take-offs which I could use my same 1.25" wheel adaptors. Then I could put on a 235/45/17 track tire and it would be easy to switch between the two sets.

Do you think 225/50/16 at all four corners will clear mounted on my wheels? This size is available in many brands .
