pertronix 2 install with oem inline faria tach

Hello all, robby13 here.
just had some rewiring done, and was wondering what is the best way  to wire tne pertronix 2 without burning upt the sensitive stock inline tach. Car is a 67 390 gt with tach. I know tnat once you use the pertronix 2, you shouldnt wire the tach the way it was originally. If it burns up, you have a no start situation. What is the best way to wire it , to get a full 12 volts all tne time, ad protect the tach. Iread somewhere about fabricating a "y" harness and putting it in between the tach leads, but what wire goes where?
This is what I have as of now: Pink resistor wire disconnected, new red wire run from pos side coil to ignition switch, for full 12 volts. Not sure what to do from here. Thanx I  advance.

Re: pertronix 2 install with oem inline faria tach

One of the electrical gurus on here should be able to figure it out.
Possibly a relay could be used to feed the pertronix?

After looking at the Faria web site, it is obvious we are going to need the model number of your tach to give you any useful advice.

Re: pertronix 2 install with oem inline faria tach

This question comes up a lot on here. To me, Pertronix 2 is a real cool fad, which is too difficult to wire in for how it performs. Pertronix said, it works best on chevys as well.
Some folks say their fords are running better. I sold mine and replaced my points. Problem solved again.
Just my experience.

Re: pertronix 2 install with oem inline faria tach

On a 1971 with factory tach ,And pertronix  distributor I used a Msd tach adapter , Works fine that way. Ran full 12 volts to the distributor

If its worth doing do it right !

Re: pertronix 2 install with oem inline faria tach

Ok, so I called pertronix tech line and, spike to Chris (?). His answer blew me away! He said forget everything you read before about the pertronix install previously. Use your stock coil, keep the resistor wire intact and all should work fine, inline faria OEM tach included! So I asked him (them) to please fax me a diagram of what they mean. I'm waiting as we speak. Has anyone heard of rocket man industries? He redoes the tach so it is not inline with the ignition system. Seems like a good alternative. Any one experience him yet? I'll keep you posted on the pertronix feed back.
