This format really works GREAT for most under 40's guys.
The problem is...alot of us are OVER 40!!!
. Here in lies the problem

I agree. Just as a personel opinion, I think it sucks.

Gee Sally, you managed to start a new string. What is so hard about the new format? And ACTUALLY, I believe more than half of the members of this Forum are older than 40. WAY older than 40!
Why don't you pretend the new format is a carb needing tuning and figgure it out?

Z I N G ! ! ! !

I'm over 40 and I don't like the new format either

Lets not do this!!!
There is no reason to start fighting and cutting each other down. It is human nature for change to be hard and for some people it is harder than others. Those who do not like the forum have an opinion we should respect not criticize even if we disagree. Some people love the new format other hate it. If you love it help and encourage those that are struggling. If you hate it, please give it a fare shake. Take the time to really try it and its features before passing judgement. Remember we all have opinions and an opinion is never right or wrong. Fighting over the opinion of which format is better is like fighting over which color is best for a Mustang black or white. The end result is conflict that does nothing but hurt the forum!!

It's growing on me. I'm under 40 though.

I like it. Typical forum style I'm used too.

I must say, I am not digging it. The thread that daze started " how do you like..." is 3 pages long. I have to scroll thru three pages of a lot of wasted space on each post... each post is almost 3 inches high, and I can't really get a jist of what comments were grouped together under another sub commentors notes. In other words, the quick glimpse that I got with the old format is gone. I could View thread, and I got the whole thread all at one shot on one page, not on 3 pages. Also the indentations helped to see the sub comments of a poster. I could easily see all the remarks made by members under the a sub post. I can't get that here. I can't see all the sub posts all at one time. In other words, Daze starts a thread, MS responds to it and so does Tubo. And then there are five people replying to MS's response and 2 people responding under Tubos' response. Well, if i wanted to, i could easily FOLLOW the train of thought from DAze to MS to the 5 replies under MS thought. I can't do that with this format.k Also There's too much wasted space on each post. with each post taking 3 inches of space, you are going to have threads that are 5 pages long. Old format, no wasted space, and you could easily have 100 replies to a post and not have to navigate to another page. But the main reason i don't like it, is because it looks like every other website and forum now and has lost its charm and its CLASSIC cozy intimate feel. OH and another reason i don't like it, the old forum, I could easily see what was the hot topic of the day, and what alot of people have been responding to. In other words, I could see if Hakan is posting replies onto numerous threads, because frankly i find his responses worthy of a read, and I cant tell from looking at the new forum format, which threads hakan has replied to so that I can learn something. this new format, i'm only going to click on the threads that interest me, and i may be missing out on some great info.
Go back to classic coke. sorry but this setup sucks.

Sal, treat it like a a cam you found but don't know the grind, or the grinder, but you have been told it's really snotty and you want to run it....butt (TS&T) you gotta get your (my) degree wheel and dial indicator out and figure out the timing, lift, LSA, etc. to make sure it gonna be snotty enough for you.
Like you, Mike, I'm way past 40 and I really liked the old cam. But it went flat due to not enough zzdpqlyezz...or somepin in the oil. So I gotta figure out this new one. Actually, the part I liked about the old forum was the abililty to scroll and instantly see any new posts on the threads I had an interest in. But gee, I think I can do that here. I just have to look at it a bit different, I think.
Hang in Mike. I think it's gonna turn out to be just snotty enough. After all, it's you and the rest of this great gang that we joke with and BS with and look forward to seeing all year long for one weekend a year that makes FYI the best, not the format.
And while I'm thinking along those lines, what's your schedule. For some reason I though of calling you today just to BS but then for some other reason I didn't do it. Maybe tomorrow afternoon, a friend has a new 9mm that needs to be "test drove" in the morning. Shoot me your schedule.

I know what you mean about Winders 8, Howard. I was forced to buy a new machine just for my part-time gig. Only thing available had Winders 8. Had to take it to a guru after only three days.
However, it's been good since then and I am actually learning to deal with it. It does have some handy feature but none handy enough that I would have bought it had I not be forced by circumstances....sort of like this new forum format.
Do some reading, Howard. You can use the built-in old style desktop and it's at least closer to XP.

You might want to see if whoever you bought the computer from (like Dell) will give you a Win7 'downgrade'. 7 is probably the best OS WinSloth will ever make.

I don't like the color contrats of light blue, med light blue and white. But I didn't like the colors on the original site either. I still like the other site better, but this site is going to hold a lot more information and easier to find things too. I am at that in between age of under/over 40

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
