Doing the body work on my 65 FB to get ready for paint. I'm going for a plain exterior and just finished welding up all of the trim and emblem holes. I was thinking of doing the same to the antenna hole in the fender and running a hidden antenna, but I don't have any experience with one. So, before I do that, does anyone have any observations to share? Thanks.

I had a TuneTrapper center feed antenna mounted below the rear window of a standard cab pickup. It worked decent. I would use one again.

I have a tune trapper under my console. Good FM reception but zero AM.

I couldn't bring myself to bore a hole in my freshly painted fender(the previous time it was painted!). I have the antennae laying on top of the heater box/under the glove box area. Works so-so......I use the mp3 player 99.9% of the time. I really like the sound of my engine when its running.

Well I welded it up so now I'm committed. A little more research suggests that the "hidden" antenna options bring mixed results. Some hot rodders have suggested using a regular antenna, but mounting it horizontally to the frame (making sure to insulate it from grounding), or even in a seat back. So I might look at that.

Check out Dakota Digital automotive accessories for their hidden antenna just for reference, I found an identical one on ebay that was much less expensive, I installed it to the windshield behind the rear view mirror, if you don't know it is there you never see it. while it isn't quite as good as the original antenna it does OK, but then I am pretty rural compared to some of you so in your case it might do very well.

I moved the Lincoln TC power antenna to the left rear so it would be easy to service when needbe. Yes there's a hole in the upper quarter but the Retro Model 2 works great, with good sensitivity and selectivity. And the antenna is parked most of the time anyway as I mostly listen to Sirius XM or Pandora...if I listen to anything besides the pipes at all.

So you installed a Lincoln Town Car power antenna in the rear? I had a 66 442 that came from the factory like that. Care to show a pic or two of the details? Thanks.

I have the Dakota Digital "ANT-100", AM/"FM Electronic Antenna" w/Custom Autosound "USA-630 radio. The antenna is mounted above the passenger side sun-visor. FM reception is poor, AM reception is non-existent, and I live in the NYC metropolitan area and do not have reception problems with my daily drivers.

I like 6sally6 approach cause it works for me. I have this high dollar radio in the cut up dash that must do something, but without mufflers, don't matter! BUT I hear what I want to!
