If I owned this it would have been moved LOOOOONG before the water got this high
Offline
That is sad, but can be repaired.

OMG - the person who owns that car needs to be horse whipped! Unless they're dead, they should have gotten it moved. Sad. Such a waste.

those fast rising flood waters could also have simply “swept” that Mustang away and, it ended up in front of that bank................

Hey, Halverson !!!!!! Seen your 69 fastback lately?

That mustang would look pretty good in my garage drying out.

Check the papers for an obituary for the guy who left his beloved '69 Mustang behind. If there isn't one I volunteer to write it.

I can see how it happens, grew up in the Ohio Valley and spent a lot of early springs helping clean up. Our whole Boy Scout troop would get our shots and go to work shoveling mud and scooping out houses and businesses. I have seen water rise a couple of feet in seconds, not minutes so you don't have as much time as you think and, oh, yeah, everyone else is trying to move too so panic sets in real quick. You are happy to leave that hunk of metal behind and get to higher ground yourself. The thing that goes wrong is that most do not believe it is going to get that bad because it hasn't in the last 30 years.

There has to be rain though right? Around here flash flooding is always caused by rain. I don't drive my Mustang in the rain, and I live on top of a pretty serious hill. Seems like poor planning to me.

Come on... that's not real...look for the cars reflection into the water Its very shallow not like the square columns...the reflection is just colored in slightly under the rear wheel opening...the front grill waterline is not even with the side of the car...hmmmm

Sorry Joe but that is real , my wife and I saw the entire video footage clip on the news last night. It was not a still shot. Pretty hard to doctor that on NBC nightly news.
My heart went out to the poor bugger who's Mustang got caught in that mess

Looks like to me he was trying to get out when the water came up around the car and stalled it. Doesn't look like it is in a parking spot to me. They must have gotten wet!

Thanks Rudi...That's awful, but I can under stand how it can happen...many years ago at the NSRA Nationals in Louisville there was a very bad flash flood... the big tire cars were actually floating in the low areas of the fair grounds...many many cars were ruined in a matter of hours, thank God my car was on high ground.......jj

I'm reminded of something I saw many years ago in Atlantic City. It was raining quite a bit, and all the drop off points for the boardwalk were flooded. We were able to get out onto the running boards of my Dad's Suburban and avoid stepping in knee deep water. Standing on the boardwalk I see this guy in a Trans-Am (like screaming chicken on the hood full on guido special) start driving up to where we were. I'm looking at him thinking doesn't he see the 4x4 in water up to the running boards? What would posses him to try and drive into an area like that? Miraculously he turns the car around and starts to head out, of course that wasn't enough for him. No, this cretin decides to floor it on the way out. A wave of water crests over his hood and I hear the engine go WAAAAAAAA-clunk-clunk-clunk and then there was nothing. So I'm just standing there in my slicker waiting for him and his buddy to climb out into the water and call a tow truck. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall for the inevitable conversation the shop it got towed to had with him when he found out the motor was ruined from being hydrolocked while running. Ron white was right: you can't fix stupid.

I live in Eureka, about a mile from where this photo was taken. Never seen that car around town before. We're pretty sure he was going for an insurance claim... There was 3 days notice on the water flooding.

Stumbled on this photo today of a car that looks stikingly similar to the flooded car. Looks like the photo was worked on in 2010 in a neighboring town to our town.

Definitely NOT the same car, different year

Looks like that roll of drainage pipe in front of the car did not get laid down in time!
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
