Well? Did you get a new project?

At this point no. She asked me to hold off because of the anniversary of her Husband's death. He died a year ago and this was his baby that he talked about all the time, but really didn't do anything with. Since she lost her house in the recent tornado and such, she just wanted a couple of weeks to make sure she is ready to sell.
OR.
She found another buyer at a higher price.
I am good either way. I certainly don't need another project, but man oh man I would love to take it on.
We should know in another week or so.

I got a pleasant surprise text yesterday.
So........ while at a local car show. I got a text from the lady who owns this 34 Ford out of the blue.
Last year She had decided to keep the car instead of selling it to us. It was supposed to be in honor of her dead husband who had started the project. I had mentioned to Anna that she had no clue as to how expensive this was going to cost.
Apparently she found out. Speed Shop was significantly higher than 50K.
So she is selling it to us for 3500. I have 2 days to get it home then I head to Germany for a month.

Good for you Ed. That's gonna be a very nice rod. Now....start saving up for those Ardun heads.

Just how big is that garage Ed?!!

Not big enough. If you build it, they will fill it.

So we picked the car and the sheet metal parts up today. About 90-95% of the sheet metal is there, with some spare parts to boot. Spare doors, hood and body panels. Tomorrow we pick up the engine and the title plus a couple of other parts. It came with a lot of the new bright work knobs and handles.
The man who was working on this before he died had really attained a lot of the car.
Truthfully this thing is going to be shelved for a few years. Anna gets her Mustang built before I can really do anything with this.
I really didn't need another project, but I hated that it was going to be parted out if she didn't sell to me.

OY! Get those parts off of the hood panels! Very nice save! It speaks volumes that she trusted you to get it.

What are the Ardun heads about, BB?

They're about $10k

Looks like a project with a great outcome, Mochaman. However the amount of work I perceive makes my heart palpitate!

Looks like a mid 60's chevy fan shroud on the top of the pile of parts in the back seat. I suppose the engine that comes with it is the same manufacture?

The guy that designed the small block bowtie worked for Chrysler in the early 50's. Before that he designed a set of OHV heads for the flat-motor Ford. AR-DUN....get it? When you see one you'll think...HEMI. The website says $14K but it been a number of year since an update. Fergurson may not even still be making them for all I know.

Which makes sense. I have a Cheby 350 freshly rebuilt with new rotating assembly. Cheby 10 bolt rear end and Cheby drive shaft.
Looks like I get some free wall art.

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
