I'm about to weld in a gt-350 hood scoop on my 66 fastback. If I install it how does it get painted inside the scoop? Do I need to do something before I weld it?

They should be ecoated Black from the factory isn't yours? Are you going to make the scoop functional or are you going to be just welding it on top of the hood? It depends on how your doing the scoop if your welding it on top it depends on if you grind down your Welds good enough then epoxy prime seam seal then body fill that would be the best then to finish it off you should epoxy prime the best you can in side the scoop. If you make it functional do all the same and then seam seal on the underneath and epoxy prime. Over that. And before you body fill you should use 80g to scuff th two coats minimal of primer that you should have applied. Or if you want the ole school way braze that bad boy on there then grind it down braze and do some lead work with tunning butter steal wool and some good ole 30/70 lead and nice wooden paddle.
