Been noodleing the back-up lights on my 66 coupe.......

I have the wire run from the T-5 to the rear valance in a loop. Just need to put power to one of the wires and the T-5 switch will make/break the connection when in R.
OK.....so where is a good place to tap into for the power? Tail-lights?!(they already seem a little "weak" even though I have good grounds.) . Ideas?

Run power through the switch on the transmission and then ground the lights locally. That way you only have one wire going back there for the reverse lights instead of two.

I pulled switched power from the ignition switch.

Or, if you took my advice and installed a pair of aircraft landing lights back there, run a big wire directly from the battery (with fuse) and switch it with a relay that gets its control power from the ignition switch "run" position. Run as per BobN's recommendation.
