I just received an email from Dallas Mustang announcing that they have the Ford Performance 5.0 Crate Engine and Controls Package on sale for $7000. That is the lowest I have seen. If anyone has been wanting a Coyote, this might be just the time to buy one.
(No, I don't get commission on any sales to FYI members)

I saw one cheaper on Jegs recently.

That's not to bad if it includes the control pack too.

Now if they were a little smaller and fit in between the Mustang Shock towers that would be the ticket!

I got curious and looked at the Jeg's web site today. Their price was the same as Dallas Mustang: $6999.99. Then I looked at Summit Racing's price. They obviously have not got the memo about the sale yet, the price for the engine and control package is more than $12,000.

Would an ecoboost fit in a early mustang? I saw they now sell the twin turbo v6 in crate motor version. It has good stats. About $8000. I have no idea of the demensions though.

I haven't found any references to an Ecoboost V6 in an earlier Mustang, but I do know of a guy that put a twin turbo Ecoboost in a 1966 F100. At the time Ford did not sell an aftermarket control system for it, so the guy had to use the entire wiring harness from the donor truck. Ford now sells a "hot rod" control system for the Ecoboost V6, so the wiring would be easier today. If I was considering this swap I would take my tape measure to my local Ford truck dealer.
My current "blue sky dreaming" Frankinstein Mustang would be the current Mustang Ecoboost turbo 4 in a 65-66 Mustang. The Ecoboost turbo 4 makes close to the max amount of HP you can put to the ground in a 65-66 AND it would be a hi-miler highway cruiser. Someone is going to say "just put a V8 in it", but where is the fun in that? If twice as many cylinders are good, then three times as many would be perfect. I'm sure I could find a Ferrarri V-12 somewhere. I have seen a V-16 Allison in a 34 Ford sedan.

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
