hey Folks,
simple one here but Im having a difficult time getting this info. Simply Looking for the Dimension of the BLOCK SIDE motor mount dimensions.
I need to raise the engine and Tranny some to stop the Borgeson Steering Box from tapping on my Long Tubes (big mistake on the long------been causing issues for everything done). Going to fab a couple plates....
Anyone have?
many thanks,
Jeff

What trans are you running? How high do you need to raise everything?

Easiest and most adjustable way is to just put some washers between the mount and the engine block. Works exactly same as a spacer.

I used washers way back when I installed the 5.0 just to make it level...don' know why that was required but I wasn't gonna say....."just use washers, like I did". Figured everyone would LOL.
And...once it clears the headers DO NOT slam the hood. Close it VERRRRRRY slowly.

Hi yes ive done the washers thing and since then I've had to remove the mounts and tilt for clearance when working on things. They are A pain! Always falling off and hard to line up with the bolt.
Was aiming to avoid that with a half days work on a permanent less complicated fix.
I have T5 trans and I think I require about 3/8" clearance.

I welded the washers together and used rtv to hold them to the block. At least you can determine the correct thickness for the spacers with a temporary set of washers.

That works quite well, too!
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
