borgeson box to fox body power steering pump

hello everyone,

I am new to the FYI forum, this is my first post.
I am installing an fox body power train with fox body ps pump into my 68 fastback.  I have the borgeson power steering conversion box and the adaptors they sell that converts the steering boxes 16mm fittings to 8AN.

Has anyone connected the fox body ps pump to their steering system?
Can you tell me the fittings, length, hose dia you had your hoses made?  Where do i get them made?  borgeson said any hydraulic shop but not sure how to look one up.  Any clues?

thanks..rob..

Re: borgeson box to fox body power steering pump

I used an 89 LInc TC donor and the PS pump is the same as the Fox, I believe.  I did the same thing when I went to the Borgeson box.  had the HP hose made up by a local CarQuest who put the 90 degree Ford PS fitting on one end and a 45 degree AN on the other.  The return line was just plain at the pump end and 45 degree AN at the box end.  Used the Borg adaptors...works fine, no leaks, lays along the left tower, neat and clean.

OBTW...welcome to the forum, I think you'll be glad you did and if you are within a couple of thousand miles of Westen Colorado bring that 67 to the BASH in late June.  See ya then...Okay?

Re: borgeson box to fox body power steering pump

Hey friend went through this last fall on my 69.  I went to my local machine shop a d had them WELD the OEM 69 pump line/fitting to the New Borg line.   Luckily for my situation the outer diameter of New Borg line sleeved Nicely Into the OEM  line

Re: borgeson box to fox body power steering pump

I went to the parts store with my pump and the hose Borgeson provided. I looked at every power steering hose they had and found one that fit my pump and was about the right length. At the steering box, it is an inverted flare, so I cut the end off of the borgeson hose and the end off of my new hose and flared the line with the right nut on there.

It weeps a little bit, but after 15,000 miles I still haven't had to add any extra fluid.

Funny you did that,  at work last night I thought of that (which is far better,  easier and faster than what I did)  but was too busy to get here.

Smooth Move!

If you can find a Ford hose that's long enough, you can have the parts store cut it off and do a proper crimp of the 45 degree AN fitting.  Then it won't leak.  That may have been what I did...can't recall if I did that or they were able to get a new Ford type fitting and crimp it to new hose.

Hello all,

thanks for the great tips.  I am glad i joined this forum.  Good info.

I will post pics of my project later.  Still in restoration stage.  Body in bare metal.  Underbody and suspension painted in eastwood chassis black, all bolted on car , car sitting on wheels.  Have mock up 302/T5 bolted in.  Plumping brakes, fuel, wiring, installing EEC now.

Next 3 months,
install MS cable clutch kit

install working 302/T5
paint car
install interior
install trim
