Saginaw Power Steering Pump Bracket

I am replacing my stock power steering pump with a Saginaw power steering pump. Can anyone recommend a mounting bracket? I have a "66 Mustang, V8 289 engine.

It will be paired with a Steeroids rack in pinion unit already in place.

Thanks!

Why is there never enough time to do it right, but always time to do it over!

Re: Saginaw Power Steering Pump Bracket

I do not like borgesons second design for their saginaw pump bracket.   I like this design better.  It looks a lot like borgesons original offering.  It WAS a little more difficult to work with, but I like the way it mounts better.  I got both of mine from this company, (bracket only)  but I couldn't find the link for the bracket only.  Although I didnt search that hard.  They may have changed their offerings up somewhat.  Just my 2c. on this bracket.

If multiple things can go wrong, the one that will go wrong will be the one that causes the most damage.

Re: Saginaw Power Steering Pump Bracket

Greg B & bad427cat -
Thanks for the suggestions!
My preference is for a bracket that fastens to the front of the Saginaw pump (Delphi type) vs to the back (Borgeson type).  The brackets that fasten to the front of the pump seems like they will be more stable.

Any additional suggestions out there? Thanks!

Re: Saginaw Power Steering Pump Bracket

You could always fab one up yourself.  Start off with a GM bracket from say an '80s truck and cut and weld on it to get the pulley to line up.  The stock brackets all mounted to the front of the pump, under the pulley (you need a pulley puller/installer to get to them)

Re: Saginaw Power Steering Pump Bracket

What maked you decide on a saginaw pump? You could easily obtain a ford powersteering bracket and bolt on several other options of pumps. Any of the newer pumps put out adaquate psi for a newer steering conversion. A compact ford pump would be like a Ford Taurus 3.8l. These pumps operate at perfect psi for either a catera box upgrade or a rack and pinion.
