Has anyone used these?
Seems they might look a lot nicer and hold up better than the original aluminum ones. That, of course, is assuming that they are reasonable stout and not just flimsy repros.

Have not used them, but I need new ones. I might give them a try. They have to be better than the original, you would think!

Let us know how they turn out. I have a set of (new in '82) OEM sills that are still in new condition but they are just dull old aluminum with no pop to them. So I really don't need new ones but I want them if they are decently made.

I have the Stainless Steel lighted pony ones and really like them. Good fit.

Did you have to run wires to power them? Is the lit emblem durable? Do you have a link?

CJPony is one of many selling it for around $140. They provide the extra wiring that is needed to tie into your door switch wiring which provides the current for lighting them up when the door opens. I don't usually step on the emblem. It is embedded in the Stainless Steel. I wouldn't put it into a farm truck and expect it to work, but for a well maintained Mustang it should last a long time. Lights are LED.

Nice looking, Mochaman. If they had them with red lights I might consider them.

They did make them with red lights at one time and I wanted them, but I could only find the blue now.

I didn't realize that the coupe/fastback and the convertibles were different. I didn't see a red one for the convertible so I emailed Scott Drake. The red would look cool with my red interior and the shiny stainless would dress it right up.

They did on mine. Wiring was easy too.

I've installled a set in a convertible last year, and they looked great. They seem to be a bit more rigid than the originals.
I know it is just semantics, but back in the day what is now called a sill plate was known as a scuff plate. Sill plates were (still are) originally stainless steel and fit under the outer lip of the scuff plate and covered the painted sill. I don't think they were actually a Ford product, but they were so appropriate that Ford actually sold them through the dealerships. They were called accessory sill plates. Just sayin.

I installed a set of the SS w/o lights. Fit was good and they didn't seem flimsy to me. Happy with the purchase.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
