Re: Front suspension conversion

Brent, keep in mind these "old hot-rods" are very light compared to newer stuff. Therefore a stiff one(pun intended) will be REALLY stiff on these light weight "boyz"! AND most of us are the proverbial "old men" and have out-grown(shall we say?)the teeth jarring rides of yesteryear.

Re: Front suspension conversion

I love my KYBs.  Ironically I've typically found Bilsteins to be too stiff.  In stock applications I felt they had a tendency to override the springs causing an unnecessarily harsh ride.  Ride quality and "harness" are pretty subjective as you're going to see.

Re: Front suspension conversion

Once I get this pig on the road I will post on how the ride is. I'm anticipating it will be squerrly with 295 rears!

Re: Front suspension conversion

So I've gotten this far on the drivers side. I'm starting the steering linkage and found that it looks like I may need a different center link for a v8 manual steering car. Does anyone have a picture they can post of a v8 manual steering linkage set up?

Re: Front suspension conversion

I found it...I need to buy a new center link or "drag link" to upgrade to the v8 suspension.  Would have been nice to know while ordering parts....

Re: Front suspension conversion

All you had to do was ask. You also need v8 pitman arm, idler arm, inner and outer tie rods and adjusting sleeves.
Looks like Granada spindles?  If so, order Granada outer tie rods.

Re: Front suspension conversion

So the mustang tie rods won't work? Nice. Looks like I will be getting the drag link, tie rods and pitman arm.  Thank you. Next question.  When buying brakes for this set up should I buy brakes for a mustang or a Granada? I'm going with power disc.
