So I'm on vacation now, but as soon as I get back, I'm going to put the glass back in. Some recent posts discussed how I just finished painting my 65 FB and how you guys have made suggestions as to the interior. The headliner is going to be the conventional fabric and hoop type like the original, but I'd like to know what you have used as insulation under the headliner - fiberglass like the original, or something else?

I have a '92 coupe in which I recently replaced the headliner. The original sound deadener came down like an old asbestos ceiling. I used Dynamat. It worked great. Tap on the roof and it sounds pretty solid. There are other products that are cheaper but I don't know how well they work.

You'll want insulation, either the OEM, or there are several types available that are foil backed and offer more insulating qualities. Either the Mustang, or Street Rod, supply houses carry the material, and you can get them pre-cut to fit the Mustang roof.
If you don't insulate the roof, you'll fry! (I would expect especially in Texas)

I used dynamat on the ceiling, 100% coverage and as previously stated it is a solid thunk when tapped on. If I had it to do again and I probably will in the future, I would have also used some padded type of material up there too. Reason is that it would help around the edges and the sail panel area to keep it looking snug. Installing glass, mirrors, visors etc... Will cause looseness where you had a nice tight fit.

I used Hush Mat.then added a layer of bubble wrap looking insulation installed with contact cement.

I too used peel and stick - fatmat then foil backed bubble insulation. No heat from above. Now about that big magnifying glass on the rear - that's another story!

I used Quadmat ( www.quadmat.com ) 4 layers for sound deadening and insulation. Peel and stick butyl works great.
