HI, i have a 1964 Ranchero 1971 302 lowered, C4 trans. power steering. i have done the disk brake conversion through this forum, but i am wondering if there is a way to put a power rack on this particular car? also it has all the original suspension except the lowering springs.

Will the Borgenson box work in your Ranchero? IMHO, a better choice!

Start calling around to those who make power racks. Borgenson and Unisteer are two of those. There are several more including Flaming River and TCP. their tech staffs might have a good answer for you.

Borgeson is a better choice and considerably cheaper than R&P. A lot of the R&P setups increase your turning radius, and the Borgeson setup does not.

Have you considered EPAS? That seems to be the hottest mod for classics of all makes.
Even second generation Ford GT owners are converting their cars to this modern method of getting power steering.
When I get back to Canada in about a month I will be installing a completed unit into my 68. The plan is to remove all of the original hydraulic system and connect the EPAS to an O/E manual steering set up. Mind you mine is not a plug and play conversion although there are some out there that can be had for a premium price.
Hopefully this will give me a satisfactory power set up without the heat generating and power robbing original outdated system Ford put into these cars. I want to evaluate this before I consider the EPAS powered R&P.
All in I have less than $300.00 invested in the electric system.
The Borgeson is still 50 year old hydraulic technology that most car makers are heading away from.
There are some very interesting articles out there on adapting EPAS systems from many O/E manufacturers to manual steering cars.
