Update on the test drive. I talked to the tech guy at Borgeson this morning and he said the temp at the pump could run 220-240 degrees but he recommended that I install a fluid cooler. He said some installations need the cooler due to the proximity to headers etc. I found one online and ordered it this morning. I will update everyone on how well it works once it arrives and I get it installed.
I have the same setup, but I did a home brew Borgeson. I'm curious as to why you originally thought your power steering fluid was too hot and required you to install the cooler?

I thought the pump was quite hot when I pulled the dip stick on the pump to check the fluid level after I got back to the house because turning into the driveway the pump made a slight groan and the steering effort seemed higher than when I started. I checked the temp with my infrared thermometer and it was over 230 degrees. I called Borgeson and they recommended I add a fluid cooler.

FWIW: I'm running the stock 5.0 pump and ATF with the Borg box and have no indication of overheating. I am not running headers though and the hoses are adjacent to but not really close to the HiPo manny.

I have coolers on all my power steering set-ups. You know there is not a lot of fluid in a steering system so it works pretty hard. If you like curvy roads like I do it can get over 300 degrees F fluid temp in a hurry without a cooler. I have a cooler on my race car and still see 280 degrees F on occasion. Based on past experience I really don't get too concerned till over 320 degrees. At 330 degrees I just assume it is time to rebuild the steering system. I always put a few lines on the reservoir of those telltale temperature crayons.
