Looking for a shifter handle for the 66 Mustang. Something to go on the T-5 and sets back a little, I'm about 6' tall. Any ideas?

You've got a couple options. There are factory look handles that are designed for the T5. Mustangs Plus also has a shifter handle that moved the shifter rearward a good bit. The logic is that the factory position requires you to move your shoulder off the seat to shift into 1,3,or 5, making those shifts less precise.
Here's a link to a stock look one:
Here's the other one I was talking about:

I bought a Hurst lever designed fot T5 conversion. It almost hit the steering wheel. I cut about 6" off the bottom and repositioned it. Use two pairs of vise grips to clamp it to the stub shifter until it feels just right, then redrill the two holes.
The 70 Boss 302 shift lever seems to be the best length and curvature for me, but I am not as tall as you are.

I have a 66 coupe with a T5 and a Pro-50 shifter. I am using the factory FOX shifter handle. I removed the rubber isolator which results in oversized holes for the mounting bolts. I used washers and just tilted the handle all the way back and tightened it down. It has held tight for many years like this.
I am just over 6 feet tall and I can shift into all 6 gears without even leaning over or reaching uncomfortably. I used the deluxe shifter boot and mount and I had to make a 1" spacer out of wood (painted back) to raise the boot up to clear the PRO-50 shifter. No layman has ever questioned if it was not stock and it works great. Best of all...you can get those handles for free in the right places. There is already so much chrome on these cars that a black shifter handle is not bad.

The old Fox trick was to braze the holes closed in the stock shifter handle after removing the rubber and then redrill them with a "P" bit. Stiffened up the shift feel a lot, but I've got a 2nd gear hanging on my wall that shows why you want a Pro 5.0 over a stock shifter...

I'd like to make a trick/custom shifter handle for my T-5 (66 coupe) either round or flat. The ready made ones are too darn expensive to suit me! Wonder why they are so spendy??!
Anyway.....has anybody got any ideas how to fab a stick up that is stiff enough to use? (no off color comments guyz!)

I used a Hurst shift handle from Modern Driveline... worked great with no modification necessary... a little pricey though. I am also 6' tall and this one works well for me.
The one I bought is listed on this page as Stock# MD-320-2040, and I topped it off with Stock# MD-315-1050

I think there's a blue pill for that...
I would just use heavy material. Typically the part that mounts to the shifter is like 1/2" thick or more. You could probably fab up a stick from like 1/2" or 5/8" round stock. Heat it with a torch and roll it around something (horn of an anvil, large piece of pipe, etc.). Then just cut threads onto the end with a die. Probably going to have to stick weld it unless you have a very serious MIG.

Wonder if....1/2" tubing stainless steel(304/316) would be stiff enough to use as a shifter?

1/2"ss tubing would be far too flemsie to make a shifter out of 6s6. Try a piece of 5/8"cold roll for a shifter.

I made a shifter for a T5 once out of a piece of 5/8 OD tube once. It had about a .150 wall thickness. It was for a race car so it got a lot of abuse. Still works great. That particular tubing was real handy, because the ID was just right for tapping to a 3/8-24 thread for rod ends.
