I purchased my wheels for my 65!

I haven't yet received my wheels. I ordered some retro wheels off ebay. They are a set of chrome 17x7/17x8 wheels. They are modeled after the bullitt wheels. Now the hard part is tires for it. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a 235/45r/17 up front. I was maybe hoping for some suggestions,on what to use in the back.

Re: I purchased my wheels for my 65!

Those are the same brand wheels I have on my 66 coupe, although my spokes are black. I have Steve's 94-2004 Cobra brakes on the front with no fitment issues.

If this forum can't fix it, it isn't broke.

Re: I purchased my wheels for my 65!

Awesome good to know I have Steve's GT Brake kit for the front that I'm going to use. What's a good Rear tire size to use? I have 17x7 front and 17x8 Rear. I heard that 17x7 front with a 235/45r/17 fits well up front. I just can't remember on what fits nice in the rear.

Just go "Plus 1".  That means 245/45 or 245/55 if you want a little less harsh ride.  that will give you a slight tire rake that looks good.  I prefer a little more sidewall showing on the rear tires.

Re: I purchased my wheels for my 65!

i use 245x45 in rear and 225x45 in front on 7" and 8" wheels. If the rears do not have more than 4.5" backspacing, use the 235x45 in the rear and get 225x45 for the front.

Backspacing determines how the wheels fit.

Above is 235x45/17 on 7" wide rim.  245x45 in rear on 8"   Note: front 17x7 rim has 4.7" backspacing.

This has 225x45 on front.  Not much difference, but a little more clearance and less sidewall bulge on 7" rim.  A little easier to steer.

Re: I purchased my wheels for my 65!

I hated my self for not clear coating my trucks wheels.  Do you think I should clear my mustangs wheels? I doubt it will ever see any snow since I have my truck for winter.  I just would hate it if my wheels ended up pitting from road salt. It sucks my trucks wheels aren't even old at all, but now because of the road salt. My wheels looks like crap.
