The 54 has a good C-6. We discussed AOD, but since it will be used locally 90% of the time, decided to save the money and just use the C-6.
Rear is a 2004 Crown Vic 2.73:1 with discs.  Should cruise the highway just fine.  And owner is not concerned how fast it will accelerate.

Hey Steve is there a reason you went with CV rear end as opposed to 80-82 F100, 9"?  Just curious.
Are the width's the same length?

Re: 1960 Ford F-100

CV rear width is about the same as the 81-83 F-100 9" rear.  Decision was based on availability and cost.  I spent five hours cutting brackets and stuff off of the Crown Vic rear end, so he wound up paying a little more for the CV rear.  But, it already had disc brakes on it and was the right width, readily available and the right purchase price.  Also got the driveshaft with it so we would have the bolt-up flange on the rear attachment.  I am going to shorten the driveshaft, even if just to last long enough to get it to a drive shaft shop to get one made.
