Im reading these things online that are telling me that if I have a manual transmission harness, I can modify the O2 harness to fit in my manual transmission however my o2 thingy is not only not attached to my main harness its hanging off the engine rn, but my plug is missing the 2 purple that EVERYBODY seems to have but me, there is not any slots for those wires either. my harness is the same in every other way though. what is even going on here. ive got a a9l computer btw

Go to Amazon and buy Charles Probst's book, Ford Fuel Injection. It has all the diagrams for all of the EEC-IV systems and you can very easily modify, re-organize, customize, and re-design any EEC-IV eight cyl harness to meet your needs. That is if you will take the time to learn to understand simple wiring diagrams and can do simple things like cutting wire, stripping insulation, soldering, etc.
Also, I and many others on this forum will be very happy to hold your hand....it really ain't rocket science at this level if you can read and obtain some basic understanding of how the system works, and Probst's book 'splains it very well.
Or...you can to to any number of "expert professional" harness makers and spend five times the $$ for something that will work but not as well as what you can do for your own self.
Do I sound like I'm fed up? I am in the process of helping one of our members install a "professional" harness that I know was not cheap. I won't go into details except to say that I'm really disgusted by some of the products that are out there.

Roslo, I understand Bullet's frustration. He probably knows more about EFI wiring than anyone. His advice to get Probst's book is very good. I know you are just starting out with this stuff, and you surely get all the help you want at home, but the experts here can be your best ally in getting the job completed.
Sometimes describing the issue is half the battle. Try to explain explicitly the problem you are experiencing to get the best response.
I have gone through the EFI experience on two different cars and now know I want nothing to do with it on classic Mustangs. But I do respect those who want to get that experience themselves.
So, persevere. But buying that book and learning how to follow a wiring diagram will help alot.

Roslo, sorry if it sounded like I was upset with you...absolutely not true. I'm just fed up with so called experts that sell expensive stuff that only barely gets the job done. I do feel that the book will provide a good basic knowledge that will help a lot.

YMMV, after initially looking at retrofitting an original harness into my car, I purchased the aftermarket harness with "RJM Technology" for about $100 less than it goes for now.
Ultimately, I decided that I didn't have time for nor the interest to deal with 20-year-old connectors and all the cutting and soldering. I have not had a single issue with the harness and it works great.

I wasn't aware that the harnesses that Ryan sold were still available. They do appear to be a pretty good value.
