Cousin just bought a 64 1/2 factory 6cyl

Cars in great shape inside out it has Kelsey hayes disc brakes on it so must have v8 spindle swap. Question though me and her are curious didn't the 65 mustang rotors have a big warping problem

Re: Cousin just bought a 64 1/2 factory 6cyl

I have not heard of that issue, and I have used those particular brakes without issue.  The problem they did have was seized pistons.  If the fluid is not changed regularly, they would start seizing pistons, one at a time, until only one out of four was working.

Thanks steve I appreciate it, kinda curious I know the brakes worked good in there day. I just thought seance the 65-67 rotors were identical and same with the 68 69 besides the two price and one peice I thought if the 65s had issues I'd switch to 68 on her ride

Re: Cousin just bought a 64 1/2 factory 6cyl

In order to swap to 68 brakes, you have to use 68 spindles.  Wheile they can be bolted on, they do not have the correct ackerman angle for that car, and bumpsteer will be increased, plus the wheels will not track in parallel arcs as you go around corners.  Both wheels are sliding to some degree anytime you go around a corner.

Re: Cousin just bought a 64 1/2 factory 6cyl

Warping rotors can be caused by NOT torqueing the lug nuts. I always use a torque wrench and in my 60 years of driving never had warped rotors.
