    exhaust for aod

    what exhaust is everyone using with there aod swap? (headers long or short tube,manifolds, what h pipe)

    You probably will not be able to use long tube headers as they wont reach around the AOD.  I had stock manifolds on mine and when I went to AOD I think the drivers side was the one that hit the most.  And with long tube it will probably be that much more .

    I am running Heddman Ceramic shorties with mine, but I would strongly advise you to use another brand as their coating SUCKS.  They rusted in the first 6 months of install and of course that's my fault

    I was running a C4 in my 67 convt (351 and old headman long tube headers).  When I replaced the C4 with an AOD, I noticed the headers wouldn't reach around the wider AOD.  But I did notice that there would be room for them with the AOD installed.  I was able "massage" the angle of the collector part of the header with a porta - power and make it all fit.  It actually was pretty easy to do. Leave headers bolted to the engine.  Put blocks of wood between headers and front frame rails (so you are not pressuring the flange of the header).  Insert porta - power between header collector area and start "spreading" so the AOD will slide between the headers.  I know this isn't for everyone, but it worked fine.

    My recommendation would be the cast iron GT manifold, IIHTDIA.
     I used a set of ceramic coated Tri-Y headers and had to cut and reweld them to go around my AOD, a bigly ( thanks DJT), pain!
