Rebuild price

I know it's a loaded question but.....I have a 66 coupe shell with doors, hood, trunk lid, fenders, glass, and clean title.  It is a factory gt and has absolutely zero rust. It looks as new as a dynacorn new shell top and bottom. Give me a guess on how much you think it would cost without paint for pretty much standard original stuff to rebuild it. I know paint can be anywhere on price so don't count for that. Thanks

Re: Rebuild price

So to clarify: no interior whatsoever, no drivetrain whatsoever, no suspension whatsoever, no exterior trim whatsoever, no wheels/tires, no brakes, no wiring.  Is that right?

Re: Rebuild price

If you bring your pickup/van to Wheaton, IL some weekend, I will make you an incomparable package deal on all kinds of items.  I have full Mustangs Plus front end rebuild kit (U & L control arms, tie rods w/ball joints, OEM center link, etc) plus factory OEM 65/66 V8 spindles.  Everything from one spindle castle nut to other spindle castle nut, except the steering box.  (BillyC has that).  I have the 66 style frame stands & motor mounts for SBF.  I have freshly upholstered front & rear coupe seats in Black standard TMI vinyl with great frames and new foam, with a little extra foam added to plump them up a bit.  Stock 66 steering column.  I have a full magnaflow 2.5 stainless exhaust kit, and a pair of JBA 1651 shorty headers.  I have an 8" rear end with crown vic disc brake kit installed (new calipers, rotors, pads, bearings, seals installed).  Original 65 rear, media blasted, primed & painted.  No rear springs, I gave those to my nephew for his 66. New Front & Rear KYB shocks & sway bars.... The list goes on....  PM me if you are serious.

Re: Rebuild price

I have a new set of std height rear springs you can get a deal on. They sit too high for my taste.

New parts will cost lots.  I would estimate ~$50k for all new parts from a vendor.  Or you could buy stuff used and vastly reduce your cost.  LIke what the guys are offering here.

Re: Rebuild price

I tend to agree.  I'd think $30k on the low end, but could easily go significantly higher, and that's not including paint which is $3,500 as a bargain basement and the sky's the limit.

But, if you shop around the net, Craigslist in particular, you can cut that cost down a good bit.  Still I don't see it getting done for much less than $20k.

Re: Rebuild price

I would seriously consider searching for a suitable donor car. Some parts will need to be replaced or rebuilt, but you might end up with a higher quality build using OE parts.

Re: Rebuild price

Very loaded question, from doing all the work yourself and hunting for parts to doing no work and paying someone to find everything.

Re: Rebuild price

Well I'm doing basically the same thing with my coupe...only thing that I haven't changed is the body. I have shopped around for deals and bought new where I should. I figure I will have $25,000 in parts that I installed myself and a paint job I will have farmed out.  Keep in mind it will be worth about $20,000 on a "good" day.  Better be doing it cause your bored!   😜
