Remembering the day the madness started.
If the Mustang had never been, what would your automotive hobby consist of right now?

Acquiring my mustang is what drove me to start learning how to wrench on stuff so I could upgrade it and fix it.... So, if the Mustang had never existed I might've never gotten into the automotive hobby.

my car where it all began!

I'd probably be looking for a good lecture to take in.

Kind of my feeling as well. I actually visited the Mustang display, at the New York World's Fair in July of '64. I still have a memento of that visit to the Ford Pavilion
After leaving the World's Fair we went to Detroit where we got to visit the Mustang assembly line..

Probably Corvettes. Got a soft spot for them. When I was a young lad I drove a '77. I know it was pretty anemic but to a 16 year old in 1981 it seemed like I was looking out over the hood of the SR-71.

The first car that I bought after I got out of the Navy in 1972 was a 67 fastback K-code .

Well in 64 the muscle car movement began with the GTO. That's why I have a Goat. So, although the Mustang started the Pony cars, We were well on our way to turning wrenches and modifying our cars for more performance. Both of these cars are Iconic!

First vehicle was a 1967 mustang coupe, I have owned many Mustangs since, but there was a 1969 stingray convertible I had my eye on but missed it by hours. I may have been a Corvette enthusiast instead, I do love my Mustangs and will forever.

I'd probably still be "sav'in up" for a 63 split window!

When my twin boys were 16, I bought a Mustang to restore for them. It was a true bonding experience for us. The car is gone;but, the memories are there. My boys are now 38 years old.

I only started an automotive hobby because of the Mustang (it will probably end there too)! But if I were to choose one automotive hobby other than a Mustang I would probably look at Harley Davidson motorcycles. Never owned a Harley, but always wanted one (went through two Kawasaki's over the years).

Oh it started well before my Mustang. I was helping my Dad work on his '69 Chevelle SS when I was 10, maybe younger. I'd helped my neighbor restore an airplane by the time I was 14. I bought my first Mustang when I was 14 ('67 coupe I6/C4). Started working on it, found out it was too far gone rust wise to save and went looking for another '67 and lucked into my fastback.
But, if there were no Mustangs? I don't know. Nothing I own is stock, not for very long anyway. I might have snatched up my uncles '66 Chevelle SS396 convertible. I know the guy who bought it and he knows that if he ever wants to sell it all he has to do is call me and tell me what he wants for it. I drove that car a fair amount when I was in high school. AC, PS, PB, 4 speed, PW, PL, power top, console, tic-toc-tach, black with a red interior. A really, really nice car that I could probably not find another like today.

I love my mustang but it is my number two love, my first love is my Cole TR3 flat bottom boat blown 500ci big block.
100mph on the water just gets me everytime.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
