1968 power steering pump hi pressure line

On the back of my power steering pump, there is a fitting (hi pressure side) that the hi pressure side hose connects
to. Is there a o-ring or a some sort or washer that goes in between the fitting on the pump and the hose? Or is it
just metal to metal ? I put a rebuilt pump on and they gave me a o-ring (looks too small, would brake up and get
into the system) and a washer (a little bigger than would fit).  Could some one help me out on this one!
THANKS mustang stu

Re: 1968 power steering pump hi pressure line

It should be a flared fitting with no gasket. a little power steering fluid on the threads will help to get a good seal.
