Father/Son 66 Coyote Swap Project

It all started in October 2016 when my son approached me about buying a Fox body. I told him to go ahead
and buy it...he said "No I want to dismantlet and rebuild it with you the way we want to have it". My response
was that I would prefer a 65/66 Fastback. After some research he returned with his preference for the Coupe.
I then mentioned it to my good friend who is well routed in the auto community, two weeks later on Christmas Eve he
called to tell me he found a 66 Coupe . The three of us went to check it out...my friend who owns a 65 Fastback
was really impressed with the condition so we bought it and dragged it home January 6th 2017...The dream begins!
Pics to follow I am still struggling with Tiny Pics!

Re: Father/Son 66 Coyote Swap Project

Today is my son's birthday and father's day...he was born on father's day 1995.
We finally finished building the rotisserie and started replacing the driver's side floor pan ,the only real
rust on this car is on the floor.

Re: Father/Son 66 Coyote Swap Project

Welcome!
MustangSteve is a great source of information should you need it.  Looks like a very solid project, should be a lot of fun and great memories created. Looks like you'll be replacing 90% of the floorpan, so I would seriously consider doing the one piece floorpan for a much cleaner look and way less welding.

Re: Father/Son 66 Coyote Swap Project

Hello Henry,
Thanks for the reply and advice. It does make perfect sense what you are saying, the reason why we are using the  individual front to back floor pans is twofold, we are going to have to cut the tranny tunnel anyway to make room for the larger transmission and the single side pans will make it easier to cut a channel through for the frame connectors for more ground clearance since we are deleting the rear seat to add a roll bar.

Move over Fred Flintstone...
We will need to be innovative to fit my son's 6"6" frame in this 66...
