C-4 Pan Leak

I have a C-4 case fill trans with what appears to be a leaking pan. I don't see it leaking anywhere else above. Is this an area I can use a gasket sealer?  Or should I replace the pan with a cast aluminum pan? This is a rebuilt trans from TCI but it sat for several years and it has TCI brand name pan.

I forgot to mention in the first post that the pan on the car now is chrome plated.  Someone once told me that it is nearly impossible to seal chromed parts such as thermostat housings.  Would this be true for trans pans too?

Re: C-4 Pan Leak

I alway's had better luck with the paper gaskets (Dry) . Rather then the cork ones...

Re: C-4 Pan Leak

I've got what looks like a black neoprene gasket that is pooched out a bit around all the bolt holes,  It took 30 years but it finally oozed out enough ATF to make the trans slow to engage in gear.  I wiped everything dry and nearly instantly the seam is wet again.

I want to take the pan off, straighten up the mounting surface, then regasket it with adhesive.  I'll probably just use GasgaCinch.  It is a light contact adhesive so you do not tear everything up if you have to pull it apart.

I also want to put a drainplug in while I have the pan off.

Re: C-4 Pan Leak

Try this.  Should solve your problem.

In the event my link didn't work correctly,  go to your local parts store and buy a transmission filter kit. It will come with the correct gasket. You might also pick up a tube of 3M yellow. It helps keep gasket in place while you get plan back on.
