289 Mild Build Changing intake 7121 OR 2121 Edelbrock?

My 66 289/auto has been rebuilt  new pistons Alum heads,Comps cam#31-432-8, 512 duration Quick Fuel  ss-650 Super Street carb, (Professional  products intake) is installed on it right now and I Have an Edelbrock 7121 intake brand new in the box that i was considering installing

Any thoughts on the Edelbrock 7121? with my mild engine build

I Have to say that i have NO problems with the proffessional products intake,my car runs great but im taking the Intake off to Repair a Leak at the back of engine/intake.

Im also thinking even tho the car runs great  the carb i have is more than i need, Fuel MPG Is Brutal

thoughts .oppinions always welcome

Re: 289 Mild Build Changing intake 7121 OR 2121 Edelbrock?

Jimmy, the 7121 will work well for your application if it fits without hood interference once the carb and air cleaner are in place.  As for the carb, if you have access to a smaller - 380 to 400 cfm - try it.  You might be surprised.  There is a handy CFM calculator on the Summit Racing web site - go to the "Expert Advice" tab, then click on "Calculators and Tools", then click on CFM Calculator.
Good Luck
