It sure either. If he did a small block trans plant then maybe I would be ok with it. That said  if you want a mustang drive a mustang.

Re: Everyone has different taste

I think it's kinda cool, but it needs a 5.0L and T5 to make it complete.

Re: Everyone has different taste

As a guy with two Gen 1 Mustangs AND a 2008 Miata, I can understand why they created that hybrid. With the Miata running gear that car would be fun to drive. It won’t bring home any trophies from the drag strip, but for bombing around town it would be great. The biggest complaint about the Gen 1 Mustangs is the suspension. We spend lots of time fiddling the running gear: new wheels and tires, new and bigger brakes, new springs, changing the A arm geometry (Arning drop), installing Mustang II front suspension, installing McPherson strut front suspension, 5 and 6 speed transmissions, and all sorts of rear end anti-wrap parts and pieces. The Miata comes with a balanced chasis from the factory, so it would appeal to those that would rather drive their cars than work on them. I personally enjoy the “working on” more than the driving.

That no back seat roadster body? Ford should have built some of those!

Re: Everyone has different taste

In the mid 90’s there was a company putting 5.0s and T-5s into Miatas. They were called Monster Miatas and I can only imagine how awesome the power to weight ratio would be.

'66 Fastback since July 27, 1981. Springtime Yellow, originally a 200 cu in, 4 speed. Also a '92 LX Coupe, 5.0, 5 speed.

Re: Everyone has different taste

Those V8 Miatas were just about undrivable, too much power for the chassis and the extra weight upset the balance. But some people don’t believe it’s a hotrod unless it has a V8 in it.

Re: Everyone has different taste

I chalk that up to different strokes for different folks. I used to own and be into old Volvos and guys used to do some crazy things to those.

I road a small block Chevy powered Harley back in the 90s. It's a good comparison to what a V8 Miata is like to drive. You are never able to use all of its potential power and live to tell about it.
