Sightseeing,...Tourist Traps,...Washington state to MCA in Georgia

We'll be driving from the Seattle area to Georgia for the May 2018 MCA Show.   We will be passing through Bozeman, MT.,  Kansas City,  and on to Nashville, Chattanooga, TN. and then to Augusta, Georgia.
Are there any recommendations that we "must see" along the way?  Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Sightseeing,...Tourist Traps,...Washington state to MCA in Georgia

If you are interested in Civil War  stuff.......Chattanooga area is loaded with stuff.  Lookout Mountain....Chickamauga... ..Missionary Ridge.  Chickamauga Battlefield/Memorial  especially.
Chattanooga ("Chat-new-gee" if you're local!) also has the world famous Rock City and Ruby Falls attractions.
Detour off of I-75 and enjoy some of the scenic spots of north Ga.  Red clays hills and mountains make for a beautiful drive.(can you tell I was born/raised in that area?!!
Augusta...not so much (Gust-ee if you're local!)
Glad you asked....I might try to go!!

Since you're coming from Seattle, keep in mind you'll only be about 3 hours drive away from Charleston, SC and about 4 hours drive from Myrtle Beach, SC.  While you're on this side of the country, you might as well dip your toe into the Atlantic.
You should look up information about both Charleston and Myrtle Beach.

Little Bighorn Battlefield is just southeast of Billings and is a really cool little stop!

You'll also be driving right past Devils Tower (Close Encounter of the 3rd Kind!), Mt. Rushmore, and Badlands. Quite frankly I'd give Rushmore a pass, but the Badlands are super awesome.

Re: Sightseeing,...Tourist Traps,...Washington state to MCA in Georgia

A real interesting attraction in KC is the Arabia Steamboat Museum.  Web site is 1856.com.  It is about steamboats sunk in the Missouri river in the 1800's.  One in particular is the Arabian.  If you like antique stuff etc., you will find this real interesting. We did.  Check out their web site.  Unless they have relocated, it is in downtown part of KC.  Have a good day.  Jerry

Re: Sightseeing,...Tourist Traps,...Washington state to MCA in Georgia

If you're going through Billings you can coin toss for 90 or 94.  94, next stop Fargo butt then Minneapolis.  By then all the riff raff from this weekends Big Annoyance will be gone.  People seem to like the Mall of America although the last time I was there was just to go to Sears and pick up a snow blower.  We have lakes and other stuff to see.  90 will get to to the cool stuff like the Badlands.  Next stop Chicago.  Either 90 or 94 will hook up with 35 and that will get you to Kansas City.  Have a safe trip.  Go for the Gold.

If you decide on going I94, Teddy Roosevelt NP, in North Dakota, is a beautiful spot.  You can do a drive thru if you don't have time.

Chickamauga National Battlefield is on hwy 27.........Lookout Mountain Battlefield is on 24. They are really pretty close to each other.
Further south on hwy 27 is Martha Berry university in Rome Ga.  Beautiful campus and  things to see.
Stone Mountain just south of Atlanta is another cool place to visit.
And don't even get me started about the stuff in Charleston to see! An ez "weeks-worth" of must seez!
MAYBE I'll see you there(MCA)!
