Re: Firewall mat

I bought a repro molded firewall mat.  Of course, I replaced it after all the pedals, emergency brake actuator, drivers vent, etc were already in place, but I did remove the heater box.  So I had to cut slits in the cut-out holes so it could go around that stuff.  It didn't help that I have an under dash hyd clutch, which further crowds the space.

Re: Firewall mat

I used a roll on window flashing from Lowes. It's Alum and butyl rubber adhesive very similar to dynamat but, a heck of a lot more affordable $16 for 25ft. Roll 6" wide.  This stuff is great! Thickness is pretty comparable to other name brand stuff.  It's called "Peel and Seal Aluminum" made in USA by company called Cofair Products Inc.
Then I installed a molded fire wall mat to fit my make/model.

P.S. Home Depot has the same sort of product but,  it is not nearly as thick as the one Lowes carries.
